The Equipment We've Acquired
GE Portable Ultrasound
Quickly becoming the standard in Emergency Room Care.
Provides doctors with valuable information allowing for faster & more informed investigations across a wide range of conditions. We’re really thrilled to have brought this technology to Tumbler Ridge as it has so many uses and was a tool our doctors were really keen to have.
ECG (EKG) Machine
Cardiovascular health is probably the most universal concerns in modern medicine.
This machine lets our local doctors administer tests that our residents would normally have to travel to larger centres to have. The more quickly issues like those identified by this machine can be treated the better.
Philips Vital Sign Monitor
Providing doctors and nurses with patient information.
This ubiquitous piece of equipment was acquired in 2013 and since then has helped the medical centre staff treat a great many patients with all manner of conditions.
Cast Cutter
The outdoor lifestyle popular in Tumbler Ridge can make for a lot of casts!
From young thrill seekers to the elderly there are no shortage of casts that need to be removed in Tumbler Ridge. We’ve made that easier with this equipment addition – in action since 2010.
Electric Bed
An essential piece of ER equipment
Keeping patients comfortable and accessible makes treatment easier for everyone. We were thrilled to see this item arrive back in 2009. Truly a great symbol for how our investments in the medical centre make a lasting difference.
Defibrillator
Allowing for fast response to cardiac events inside and near the clinic this is an item our doctors recognized as a critical piece of equipment to have on hand. Purhchased in 2011.
Blood Warmer
Amazing new technology for treating hypothermia.
You won’t find one of these in a Mediterranean hospital but here in the north it provides our health centre staff with a fantastic treatment option for severe hypothermic cases.
Crash Cart
Purchased in 2009 this equipment is for when it all goes wrong.
This is one of the few pieces we hope doesn’t see much use but we’re glad our ER department has it in place & ready when it is needed.
Pediatric Phototherapy Unit
Nobody likes to see their infant stuck in a hospital.
This device allows for treatment of common conditions at home and has been a godsend for the parents who have needed it.
Transport Chair
Nobody likes to see their infant stuck in a hospital.
This device allows for treatment of common conditions at home and has been a godsend for the parents who have needed it.
Mixer for Chemistry
Outfitting our local laboratory with the equipment they need to quickly produce test results is a key to effective treatment.
This unit was purchased in 2004 and has proven its value over and over since then.
Blanket Warmer
There’s nothing like a warm blanket to help a patient’s spirits lift.
We bought this unit in 2015 and expect to get many years of reliable service out of it.
Blood Collection Chair
Nobody likes to see their infant stuck in a hospital.
This device allows for treatment of common conditions at home and has been a godsend for the parents who have needed it.
Lift
Working smart not hard requires the right tools.
This lift allows health centre staff to move patients of any size & prevents workplace injuries in the process. Everyone wins!
A Little About Our History
The Tumbler Ridge Health Centre Foundation was incorporated July 21,1989. The Foundation has 8 members; we raise funds to purchase needed equipment for our local health centre – mostly for the emergency department. We depend on member Barb Schuerkamp who communicates with our local doctors everyday on equipment needs. If Northern Health will not supply the item then we step in. In the past couple of years the downturn in the economy has affected the amount of donations we have received. Since 2004 we have purchased 34 pieces of equipment totaling $118,986.70. Since 2009 Northern Heallth has purchased 3 items & our X-ray machine.
Most recently we have purchased a 2nd ECG (EKG) Machine, a Portable Ultrasound, and a 2nd Broselow Flying Carpet (Pediatric resuscitation system).
We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without our wonderful sponsors. We maintain and display a list of all donors. Our most up to date list is available here.
